Visa Renewal & Extension

Which visas can be extended in-country.

Most tourist/short-stay visas cannot be extended — check the visa page or entry stamp. Some countries (e.g. Thailand) allow one in-country extension. Student and work visas can usually be extended or converted.

Apply 1–4 weeks before expiry, while still valid. Applying after expiry counts as illegal overstay. Keep the submission receipt — some countries allow legal stay during processing.

Leave before expiry or risk overstay. The safest route is to leave on schedule and reapply from home.
