Which Countries Require Interview or Fingerprints

Only the US and Canada require an interview in most cases. The US requires an in-person interview for B1/B2; Canada is online but the officer may request one.

34 countries collect fingerprints, mainly Schengen states and the UK, plus the US, Canada, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia. Fingerprints are taken at the visa centre with a photo.

Schengen fingerprints are valid for 59 months (about 5 years) and shared across all 29 member states via VIS. You normally do not need to re-enroll within this period.
