US Visa Interview: Common Questions & Tips
The questions asked at a US B1/B2 visa interview and how to answer them consistently.
1The standard questions
Purpose of trip, length of stay, where you will stay, your job in China, monthly income, and whether you have been to the US before. Every answer must match your DS-160 exactly.
2Interview tips
Arrive 30 minutes early, dress business casual, answer only what is asked, and never volunteer extra information. Do not memorize answers or argue with the officer.
3After the interview
The officer usually tells you the result on the spot. Approval means the passport is taken for stamping (3–5 working days). Administrative processing (AP) is not a refusal — it usually takes a few more weeks.
